membaca emel yang difwd kan oleh pengarangnya
sendiri kepada rakan juangnya. Terfikir dibenak saya,
"Takkan tuannya sendiri tidak tahu? Ke pura-pura
tak tahu?" Walau apa pun jawapannya - saya jelaskan mana yang
perlu disini sebagai menolong sdr -MT-.
From: "Robert Rose" [robert-rose@robert-rose.com] Subject: Interested in Kalaripayat Date: Thu, 12 Oct 2000 01:06:31 -0700 Dear Sir, I cannot understand your web page: http://mahazalimtwo.tripod.com/130300mai.html
But am most interested in finding out more about Kalaripayat?
Thank you, A REPLY IN ENGLISH Briefly the above article describes the duel
between two former foes in Malay Politics
within Umno. The incumbent, Dr Mahathir is about to be
challenged by Tengku Razaleigh. The former
has his ancestors roots from Kerala, India
while the latter is born in Kelantan, a state
in north east of Malaysia. Hence it is appropriate to describe such
duel as a war between two different science
of martial arts: Kalaripayat VS Malay Silat. What is Kalaripayat? KALARIPAYAT is a traditional village martial art
system from the regions of Kerala, South India.
Kalaripayat's existence in the present day form
can be traced to the early 12th through 16th century
AD. It is an Indian martial art based on yoga
techniques. It is well known in Kerala, and
supposedly the first known one. Kalari is derived from the Sanskrit term Khaloorika or
an arena for exercise and Payat or training inside a Kalari.
This martial arts form is practiced now only in the Kalaries
of the southern Indian state of Kerala.
Kalaripayat can be called the father of all martial arts with
a scientific and comprehensive system of training for the
body and the mind with an elaborate repertoire of weapon
training which in the ancient times led to the making of a
proficient warrior. It is taught to young men and women so they
can learn self-defense against oppression.
Kalaripayat has much knowledge of the human body.
Its basics has many unique drills and exercises.
It has a weapon fighting system using a stick,
and also utilzing a sword and a shield.
Kalaripayat [or "Kalaripayettu"] teaches striking
various nerve points on the body of an opponent.
The Kalaripayat practitioners wander across land
with their identity secret, in order to help
the poor and the weak. With their good intentions
and authentic training in martial arts, these
practitioners are known as legendary in India.
Some famous Kalaripayat teachers are Professor Kumar,
and Ustad Abu Hamza. During the 1940s, a British documentary film-maker
made a short documentary film showing Kalaripayat
training. The film is called "Martial Dances of
Malabar". The film may be at archives at the BBC.

on behalf of -MT- JAWAPAN DALAM BAHASA MELAYU Secara ringkasnya rencana oleh sdr -MT- itu
berkisar mengenai pertandingan antara dua seteru
lama politik Melayu dalam Umno. Dr Mahathir,
penyandang jawatan presiden ketika itu akan
dicabar oleh Tengku Razaleigh berikutan
satu pencalunan dari Tanah Merah, Kelantan.
Dr Mahathir asal-usulnya dari Kerala, India
manakala Tengku Razaleigh pula adalah anak jati
Negeri Kelantan. Oleh itu pertandingan tersebut memang tepat jika
dikiaskan sebagai satu perlawanan antara dua seni
mempertahankan diri: Seni Kalaripayat VS Pencak Silat Melayu.
Apa itu Kalaripayat: Kalaripayat adalah seni silat yang berasal dari
Selatan India, seperti Kerala.
badan manusia. Seni senjatanya pula menggunakan batang
kayu, pedang atau pengadang. Kalaripayat (atau "Kalaripayettu") mengajar teknik
menyerang pelbagai pusat saraf pada badan lawan.
